Throughout the Winter months you will notice an increase in road dirt on your wheels, which due to salt/grit used on our roads can have a detrimental effect. If left for periods of time, the salt can corrode the paint finish of your wheels like an acid which will lead to flaking paint and white water marks arising underneath the lacquer. For this very reason we recommend against using wheels that have polished sections on the wheel - as this is the most susceptible area. It is best to opt for a wheel that is one solid colour, which is easier to maintain and clean.
You will see below a selection of some of the Winter Alloy Wheels that we recommend, and as you can see there are some fantastic designs. A common misconception is that Winter Alloy Wheels are boring, but this doesn't have to be the case. Many wheel manufacturers are producing some exciting designs in a variety of hard wearing paint finishes. Every year the Winter Alloy Wheel market is growing, and wheel manufacturers have cottoned onto this.
Not only do we offer Alloy Wheels for Winter Use, but we can also supply Steel Wheels. Generally Steel Wheels are cheaper, which will reduce the cost of fittings wheels to your vehicle purely for Winter Use.
Whilst we offer a fantastic range of Winter Wheels, we are also able to offer you Winter Tyres at heavily discounted prices. We buy Winter Tyres from the UK and Germany, which gives us a huge advantage on pricing and stock availability. It is the law in Germany to switch your tyres to Winter Tyres throughout the winter months, so stock levels are extremely high in Germany - and due to buying power the Germans benefit from better pricing. We bring these savings to you! If you plan on driving on the roads this winter then it is seriously worth considering fitting Winter Tyres to your vehicle. In sub 7°C temperatures, it is proven that Winter Tyres will not only give you improved grip on the icy / wet / snow-covered roads, but also stop you quicker. Throughout the winter months, you and your vehicle are 6 times more susceptible to a road traffic accident. Fitting Winter Tyres could drastically decrease the odds of this happening, enabling you to stop quicker and control your vehicle better in poor conditions. In sub 7°C temperatures, a normal tyre will become more rigid and the flexibility becomes reduced. This has a significant effect on the way that the tyre performs, which in turn compromises the way that your vehicle performs. Due to the special construction of Winter Tyres, in colder temperatures the tyre remains flexible and maintains adhesion to the road. There is a slight trade off with stopping distances as a winter tyre does not stop as quickly in the dry as a summer tyre, however, on balance if it is not possible to switch tyres in the winter, experts say you are better off with winter tyres all year round. This is because the difference in stopping distances of summer tyres in winter is far greater than for winter tyres in the summer.
